We are sometimes asked, "Why do I have to
pay? to attend an AA meeting"?
A common misconception regarding AA
conventions and round-ups is that they are regular
AA meetings. While parts of the Round-Up have a
similar format to regular AA meetings, Jackson's
Mill Round-Up is not a regular meeting of Alcoholics
Anonymous. Jackson's Mill Round-Up is a special
event with Al-Anon participation. Jackson's Mill
Round-Up is self supporting, no contributions from
AA groups are used to pay for this event. Expenses
such as room rental, travel and lodging for the
speakers, coffee, ice cream, sodas, and printed
material are paid for through registration fees. No
baskets are passed during these events. As stated
in our 7th Tradition, "We are fully self supporting
through our own contributions". In order to cover all
expenses no single day/meeting passes, nor any
reductions in registration fees for meals and
lodging off the premises
